Tim and I went with a village resident about 10-12 miles downstream from Kherson. He had the GPS coordinate of a rooftop on which about 20 of his neighbors and friends were reported to be stranded and awaiting rescue. The water was still rising, so he jumped into Tim's boat and we took off to go find them. When we arrived at the location, the roof was underwater and nobody was there. As we patrolled the area forests and other rooftops for survivors, the gasoline connection to my motor broke, cutting the fuel supply to the motor. I had to paddle vigorously to a nearby rooftop to fix it.
Sadly, in the end, we found none of the villagers.
